Wilson Watch Works 43mm Military Chronograph Final Review

Bund straps have had a bit of a popular resurgence for watches in the last few years.  A lot of them are too large and don't look good in a variety of situations.  Wilson Watch Works has resurrected the old style of bund strap with their 43mm Military Chronograph.  Using a smaller and more traditional strap makes for a perfect all around watch that has timeless style.

Correction Note:  The crystal is a Swiss made double domed hesalite.

Detail
Throughout the entire watch detail is seen in every component.  From the intricate dial with large and small numbers, to the buttons and crown that are meticulously engineered.  Such attention lends itself to a feeling of high quality and thought taken to the entire watch.

This watch has so many assembly as well as user features that make it feel even more mechanical than just the movement.  Its really a cool feeling to be wearing this watch knowing everything that has going on inside and all the components to make it work.

Comfort
I spend a lot of time talking about straps.  And I tend to be very picky about the way that they feel.  This particular strap has a completely different feel of its own.

First of all this straps starts off stiff.  This is a good thing, allowing it to mold itself to your hand over time.  Also it shows that this band will hold up to the test of time.

Also the double layer bund keeps that case from touching your wrist.  This is particularly comfortable because metal never comes in contact with your skin.  Gone are the sticking and sharp edges that most are used to.  The case piece is also smaller than most which keeps it looking slim and not bulky.

Overall
To sum up this watch in a few words, its a timeless styled piece.  Close attention to detail and inspired by an original chronograph from the 1960s make this a wonderful watch that will never look outdated.  Wilson Watch Works is even stocking spare parts for this watch in case you ever need to repair or replace something.  You can pick one up for $499USD at their website.  If you have any specific questions about the watch feel free to ask below in the comments.

This watch is under appreciated. The best things about it are that it has a beautiful/practical dial, and the 3W quality build. In my opinion, the main detractors are 1) The strap--no matter how practical and authentic it is, it's just not cool and good looking--people these days simply are not interested in a bund strap, and 2) the Chinese movement--no matter how much it is like a Swiss movement , it's not one. It was probably a mistake to offer this watch on subscription at $499.00 as is with no strap or or movement options.

I think you mean 'hesalite' crystal - a variety of hardened plastic, the Hesalite name came from Omega and the speedmaster. Sounds better than acrylic. ;)

I think what most people don't like about bund straps is that they tend to feel too padded. With a thick band plus the case itself, it seems to protrude out of one's arm too much. This one seems okay, though. It looks petite and you can't argue leather straps look good with whatever you wear.

I purchased this from Chris for my collection. I am very happy with the build quality and customer service. I do agree with the comment above about the bund strap, I just removed the pad and it's fine. The watch keeps excellent time within seconds a day, this is what I was most surprised with considering the movement is from China. The chronograph operates fine although it not as smooth as some of my watches with the Valjoux 7750, but also it's not thousands of dollars either. Overall it's very nice, I do wish it had a Swiss movement but for under 500.00 it is a good value.

I like the bund strap. It's not a strap for all occasions, but it fits military style watches like my Victorinox Infantry. I like to replace my own batteries and straps allowing me to have a different look for my watches for different occasions and moods. This strap would be a fitting accessory on my Swiss Army for trap shooting weekends.
